R-454B blends difluoromethane (R-32) with the HFO 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (R-1234yf). It carries roughly a quarter of the global warming potential of R-410A while running at comparable pressures, which is why manufacturers adopted it for new split systems and heat pumps under the AIM Act HFC phase-down.
R-454B is classified A2L: mildly flammable. Use only in equipment listed for A2L refrigerant, follow the manufacturer instructions for leak detection, ventilation, and charge limits, and use A2L-rated recovery equipment and tools.

Venting refrigerant to the atmosphere is prohibited; recover it with approved equipment. Confirm the refrigerant against the equipment nameplate before charging — refrigerants are not interchangeable, and the wrong charge can damage equipment and void its warranty.
Cylinders ship non-refillable and single-use. Do not refill, heat above 125 °F (52 °C), or transport a cylinder outside its upright, secured position.
